Manual Lymphatic Drainage
The Lymphatic system is our front line of defense in fighting bodily infections, and transports metabolic wastes, excess water and bacteria out of the body.
Manual lymphatic drainage is a very gentle massage technique used to stimulate the flow of lymphatic fluid ‘lymph’ – around your body. Using specific slow, light strokes, manual lymphatic drainage works on the connective tissues immediately below the skin (not the deeper muscles).
Manual lymphatic drainage is relaxing and useful for treating a wide range of health conditions, and illnesses including;
- Breast surgery: segmental, simple or total mastectomy,
- Lymphoedema, Oedema/Swelling (+swelling in pregnancy)
- Post-surgery (can reduce healing times, scar tissue formation)
- Sports injuries e.g. bruises, sprains and even fractures (in acute stage) when remedial massage is not possible
- Chronic fatigue syndrome
Amanda is a qualified Lymphatic and Lymphoedema practitioner and can provide garment measurement and fittings.
